Family care rota: organising visits, appointments and jobs
Part of Family & siblings

A workable care rota names the task, the person responsible, the date and a backup. Start small, check what your parent wants, and review the plan together each week.
Plan around real availability
Include travel time, work and school commitments. A sibling who lives away might take on booking, paperwork or check-in calls instead of visits.
Make handovers explicit
When a visit changes hands, record what was done, what was not done and any follow-up. Do not write assumptions as confirmed facts.
A practical checklist
- List recurring visits and one-off appointments
- Agree an owner and backup for each job
- Share a calendar everyone can access
- Check the rota weekly and adjust when circumstances change
