Agree one shared place for factual updates, keep messages brief, and say who is following up. Ask your parent what they are comfortable sharing and with whom.
Agree what goes where
Use short updates for visits and practical changes, a calendar for dates, and a private document area for sensitive paperwork. Avoid long message threads as the only record.
Record uncertainty honestly
Write 'waiting for the GP surgery to call back', not 'the appointment is confirmed', until you have confirmation. Link an update to the task it creates.
A practical checklist
- Agree consent and who can read updates
- Record the date and source of each update
- Name the person handling the next step
- Summarise changes before the next handover

Frequently asked questions
- How much detail should I share with siblings?
- Share only what your parent has agreed to and what helpers need for their role. Keep sensitive records in a permission-controlled place.
