Capturing everyday memories with an ageing parent
Part of Carer wellbeing

Ask before you photograph or record, keep it relaxed, and let your parent choose what's shared. Short, natural moments tend to mean more than staged ones.
Ask first
Your parent is part of this, not a subject. Check they're happy to be photographed or recorded, and respect a 'not today'.
Simple ideas
Photograph their hands at a favourite hobby, record them naming people in an old album, or write down a story they tell at dinner.
Keep it private
Share within the family rather than publicly unless your parent is happy for it to be shared more widely.

Frequently asked questions
- What if my parent doesn't want to be photographed?
- Respect that. You could write the memory down instead, or photograph a place or object that matters to them.
